I was very kindly asked by Snozone to visit them in Castleford and spend the day on the slopes. (They have the choice from Castleford or Milton Keynes). I swapped the gym for the slopes and what an amazing day we had, I took Chris, my brother and my dad along with me for the day, and it was such an incredible day out. It certainly beat the Monday blues.
I never actually thought about how much exercising you do when skiing, and how many calories you burn – in fact, 400 calories can be burned in an hour of skiing! I know from my experience, 400 calories in the gym takes a while, and well it’s sure not as fun! Snowsports are a great alternative to traditional fitness methods, so rather than going to the gym “x” number of times a week, why not mix it up with something different and exhilarating like a blast on real snow indoors, it’s at a super affordable price too. It’s also a sport that you can enjoy with friends and family or on your own. Snozone is open 364 days a year, so apart from Christmas day, snowsports are accessible all year round!
This links in perfectly with a previous blog post of mine, ‘getting stuck in a rut’ and how we should try new things in life, and not be bored of the same daily routine- throw yourself into something new and challenging. It’s super easy to book, and if you love skiing or even love a bit of snow, Snozone is the perfect place for you, especially if you’re like me and love getting all geared up ready to hit the slopes, and even if you don’t have the ski gear, you can always hire it.
You can choose from an hour, two, or three hours recreational slope pass (on the terms that you can control your speed and turns) and of course you have the option to ski or snowboard. I am a true skiier, and if I’m honest I have never tried snowboarding. However, if you’re a complete newbie, there’s always the choice to have a coaching session and learn the basics, or even if you need to touch up your skills before your ski holiday. For me, as well as swapping the gym to a slope now and again, it also helps with the holiday blues. I love skiing so much, and I am so passionate about it, it’s such a hobby for me. Only living an hour away from Castleford means now and again, I will be able to pop over and beat my holiday blues.
So, how does it sound? Swapping the gym for the slope? It’s the perfect option if you want to lose some weight, get fitter or even try something new. It’s great for all ages, and even if your parents/grandparents/friends don’t want to ski/snowboard, they can sit in the coffee shop (which is also a viewing area) it’s the perfect place to sit and watch people ski down the slope. It’s a day full of fun and laughter, trust me, you won’t be disappointed. Click here to watch my vlog from the day at Snozone and please subscribe!
Would love to hear your thoughts on changing the gym to a slope now and again? Let me know if you’ve been skiing recently! I would absolutely love to return and give snowboarding a go!
If you fancy skiing but trying something different, please have a read of Jasmine’s blog – Click here to read about her day indoor skiing too!
*This day out was kindly sponsored by Snozone, all thoughts are my own.
This looks so much fun! I love that you can burn calories at the same time! I’ve avoided snow sports purely because I’m the biggest newbie going but I like the sound of a coaching lesson – I reckon I would gain a lot from that! Lovely post gorgeous xx
