A change is as good as a rest, they say, and I’m inclined to believe them. However, if your bank balance or holiday allowance is too small to head off to an exotic overseas location, why not go on a UK mini break instead? A topic you can get some information on in my post below.
If you are feeling stuck in a rut, then there is no better location to appreciate the sea air and clear your head that gorgeous Weymouth. Its a UK beach town located in the south of the country, just a stone’s throw from other popular places like Pool and Bournemouth, which make it excellent if you want to make day trips there as well.
Of course, you can’t start to enjoy yourself you will need to sort out some accommodation. Luckily, as a busy seaside town, there are plenty of options in this area including hotels and B&Bs. There is also the possibility of finding a cottage to rent in the area as well. An option that can provide you with the privacy and independence to be entirely in control of your stay.
Once you have found somewhere suitable to lay your head, then you can enjoy all the site, and attractions Weymouth has to offer. There is, of course, the beach and coast, and in particular make sure to find some time to visit Nothe Fort, a fascinating fortress dating from Victorian times. There you will find a museum and restaurant, and you may even get to see a ghostly visitor or two as it’s known for its paranormal phenomena. Something that is bound to put a bit of oomph into your stay.
Another great place to enjoy the British seaside and blow away all those mental cobwebs is Southend-On-Sea. Located in the south-east of England, this is popular seaside resorts with those from London and Essex.
Of course, you will find the usual selection of places to stay in Southend, such as hotels lining the seafront.
Although, if you can get in, try and book a place in one of the B&Bs on the Royal Terrace. This is a small road that is set back on a cliff way above the front and provides some gorgeous view and excellent access to the town centre as well. It’s also packed with charming Georgian houses, many of which have been converted into hotels!
Now, if you are looking for fun, there is plenty of stuff that will keep you amused in Southend too. Be sure to visit the fun Adventure Island which is packed full of rides like the Dragon’s claw, Rage, and Vortex.
Then, if you haven’t quite had your fill of thrills why not head over to Hide and Shriek? This is an attraction that is sort of like an escape room in reverse the aim being to stay in as long as you can! Now that is something that will help inject a bit of excitement into your life and help you to finish your break feeling supercharged and full of energy!
