Making Your Home Cosy Without All The Expenses

However you choose to decorate your home, whether it’s modern, traditional or retro – the main thing is that it should be homely and cosy. It’s easier said than done, though, and everything that looks like something we’d snuggle up in seems to cost way too much. You can still get that warm and homely look in your living room, though, as long as you know what to look for.

Here is a couple of great tips from the interior experts of the web to help you to feel a bit snugger at home until the summer finally hits us.

#1 Invest in couch pillows

When you’ve spent a fortune on buying the perfect couch, it seems unreasonable that we also have to spend money on buying extra pillows. While you certainly don’t have to, having some of those soft couch pillows ready at hand will make your living room much more inviting.

Plus, you’ll be grateful that you have them as soon as your couch starts to lose its original softness after a couple of years. A traditional design may benefit from having large and soft pillows in cream or other earth colours while a retro style would look great with pillows in different patterns.

It doesn’t have to match either, and you should be able to find a lot of them online if you’d like to save some extra money

#2 Get a fireplace heater

No fireplace to keep you warm on those chilly post-winter evenings? A lot of people are investing in flame gas fireplaces, such as the ones from Real Flame, these days as it saves them the cost of putting up a chimney as well – plus, it makes your home look really great and modern.

While it may not give the same classic look of a sparkling fireplace, it’s certainly the second best thing, and you’ll be able to enjoy the heat of the flames while the rain is tapping on your window. There’s nothing cosier, really.

#3 Make the lighting soft

We tend to underestimate the effect light can have on our moods; while bright and cold light might wake you up, soft and warm hues make you feel all snug and sleepy. This is such a quick fix as well, and won’t cost you more than a quick trip to the shop and a simple swap of the light bulbs.

While you’re at it, you might want to consider changing the light fixture in your living room as well to make it even cosier. Have a look at this article for some great ideas before you’re off to the shop – or about to click your way into the online shop.

Cosy homes are much easier to achieve when you know exactly what makes you feel cosy. For most of us, this includes the heat of a fireplace, soft blankets, and a couch that’s just begging you to skip that afternoon workout and lay down instead.
